MY HERO

Michael Downing has no doubt changed the lives of all who knew him. He was an inspiring son, brother, and friend. Mike loved living more than anyone I know, and I know that he loved everyone so much. I have known Michael since the day I was born, and he has been there my entire life. There have always been friends that I've had that come and go, but my best friend Michael, never did. Michael's story will live on only in the hearts that knew him, and the people who share his story. Michael's favorite song was Tim McGraw, "Live like you were dying," because Mike felt that everyone should live life to the fullest. Mike was also the strongest person some of us will ever know. Despite all the chemotherapy, radiation, holistic treatment, and any kind of sickening medicine he took, Mike always had a smile on his face. He wanted everyone to know that he was happy to be alive, and see the faces of those he loved. Michael was a great student who earned a full ride to Pikes Peak for two years and UCCS for five, because he wanted to live on his dream of being a physical therapist. He wanted to help those who had gone through the same thing that he had. Michael also loved his work, he loved the feeling of being able to help others no matter what he was doing. Michael loved to hang out with his mom who took great care of him, and they would play around and squirt each other with syringes. Michael also loved to hang out with his dad, and go to sports games with him, or even sit at home and watch them. Michael also loved to hang out with his sister Ashley, and watch movies, or go to Sunday School; and he loved to listen to everything that was going on in her life. Especially when it came to boys so he could keep them away. Michael was an amazing son, and brother, and he was always there for his friends when they needed him. Michael is truly a hero, and he has changed so many lives. He has taught us all how to live life, and how not to take it for granted. Everyone in this world has a purpose, and I believe Michael's purpose was to show people that life is a gift, and to cherish it while you can. So please anyone who reads this, send this again to all of your friends, and share Mike's story as much as you can. Michael was a friend to anyone and everyone, and if you are reading this......all I can say is live life to the fullest, and live as if you were dying. This means to try not to be negative towards people, and to try to love as many as you can, see the bigger picture, and to live a life that he can no longer live. Thank you all for reading this inspiring man's story.

He is TRULY MY HERO!!!!!!!!
